        Historically Black Colleges and Universities

Historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the United States were established on the principle that all people have the right and the ability to create their own independent futures. One of the ways we do this today is through technology. It's no surprise, then, that HBCUs offer innovative and challenging computer science programs! These schools were founded prior to 1964 in order to empower people through education, and today there are over 100 historically black colleges and universities in the United States, offering many of the same undergraduate and graduate programs as other institutions, including computer science.

HBCUs come in different shapes and sizes. They may be public or private, four- or two-year, secular or faith-affiliated. These world-class institutions are open to all applicants and HBCUs also continue to develop and implement programs focused on students who have had limited access to education. HBCUs are therefore strongly committed to the social importance of education, and its relevance to improving people's lives. So don't forget to check out what's offered at the historically black colleges and universities with computer science programs in America: they not only offer a great education, they provide an environment where you will feel inspired by the opportunities that await you!
