Community Colleges with Computer Science Programs
    Community Colleges

What began with one school back in 1901 has grown into a national network of over 1,100 community colleges throughout the United States. These 2-year institutions pride themselves on serving the educational needs of their communities, and they aim to make higher education accessible to as many people as possible. Whether public, private, faith-affiliated or secular, community colleges generally have less restrictive admissions requirements, less expensive tuition and, with smaller classes, more focus on the students and their success than many universities.

Because computers are involved with so much of what we do, there are many different community college computer-related programs. You can take a 2-year Associate of Science (AS) or Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree with specializations like computer graphics, computer programming and computer network engineering, or a 1-year certificate program in such areas as Web design and development, network administration, and different programming languages. Community college credentials may be shorter than many of those offered at universities, but don't be fooled: they are academically rigorous and are designed to lead you straight into the working world, or enable you to transfer your credits toward a university program. Whether they're called institutes, technical colleges, junior colleges or just colleges, community colleges are a great option for getting your future online in the field of computer science. So start searching for community colleges with computer science programs today!
